About a month ago, I was invited to savor the cuisines of Bengawan, the signature restaurant at Keraton at The Plaza.? Located adjacent to Plaza Indonesia and the Plaza office building, Keraton is the first Luxury Collection hotel to open in Jakarta.? With a name derived from the Javanese word for ?palace?, the hotel boasts a luxurious modern design with Indonesian artistic details.

Located on the seventh floor of the hotel, Bengawan signature restaurant provides all-day-dining international buffet as well as a la carte menu which incorporates a selection of local Indonesian cuisines.? What I loved about Bengawan was that stepping into the restaurant felt like escaping the hustle bustle of metropolitan Jakarta into a serene oasis, accentuated by the soothing water features and lush green foliage.

I started the tasting with some cold appetizers and seafood, followed by a plate of nasi keraton.? The nasi keraton is similar to nasi uduk, rice cooked in coconut milk served with assorted condiments and wrapped in banana leaves.? It tasted wonderful, accompanied with a selection of Indonesian food, tender iga bakar (grilled ribs), tasty bebek goreng (fried duck) and spicy sambals.? Next, I was offered to try rib-eye and foie gras from the pass around.

Another Indonesian dish that I quite enjoyed was the sop buntut (oxtail soup).? I also tried some Western dishes and spaghetti aglio olio from the pasta station which tasted pretty nice.? By then, I felt almost full and decided to move on to desserts.? A couple highlights from the desserts would be the red velvet cake which was moist and tasted heavenly, and the delicious homemade mango ice cream.

For drinks, besides the iced apple mint tea and cappuccino, I also had a chance to try the?blueberry bajigur colada from their indigenous cocktails selection, a unique blend of Indonesian bajigur flavor and blueberry in a sophisticated cocktail form.? It certainly was a delightful afternoon for me and I would like to thank Ms. Novi and Keraton at The Plaza for the kind invitation.

Deutsche Bank to slash 1,900 jobs to save $3.67 billion

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank said it will slash 1,900 jobs in an effort to achieve cost savings of about 3 billion euros ($3.67 billion) as part of a broader strategic overhaul unveiled by the bank's new chiefs on Tuesday.

The bank will reduce headcount in corporate banking and securities by 1,500 and cut jobs mainly outside of Germany.

It comes in response to a slowdown in financial market activity.

The bank also said it is reviewing its compensation practices, in order to address both the absolute level of compensation and the relative balance between rewards for shareholders and those for employees.

Job cuts mark an about-turn for the German bank, which in April said it saw no need for layoffs at its investment bank.

Shares extended gains after the announcement and were up 2.3 percent at 25.42 euros by 8:10 a.m. EDT (1210 GMT), making them one of the biggest gainers on the STOXX Europe 600 Banks <.sx7p> index, which was down 0.8 percent.

Red hot Park surges to Evian victory

South Korea's Park Inbee had a magical day with the putter to hold off a bunch of players and win the Evian Masters with a fantastic closing 66 here on Sunday.

"This is so exciting," said Park, who dropped shots at the third and 11th but birdied four holes in each half. "Today I was red hot with the putter."

Park's win was just her second as a professional, but she has proved she has the nerve for the big occasion.

Her first win was as a 19-year-old in the US Women's Open - and the 350,000 euro ($431,000) first prize at Evian is the most lucrative in women's golf.

"It's been tough to wait so long for another win but I think this will be really big for me."

By contrast her playing partner Lewis, the runner-up last year, could not buy a putt in the first 14 holes and had another hiccup when she cracked the face of her driver hitting from the 12th tee.

But she battled bravely with birdies at the 15th and 16th and then holed the monster for eagle at the 18th.

Karine Icher, who has had three top tens on the LPGA Tour in America this season, was on her first trip back home to France since the birth of her first child, Lola. And she produced a great final round of 69 to tie for 12th place on nine under par.

Lola is 11 months old, and the 33-year-old said: "My life has changed forever since she arrived. To have a baby, it's completely different. Now my priority is not my golf but my daughter. But I'm more relaxed and it's fun to travel with her."

Icher had four birdies in the final round and she is already looking forward to next year when the tournament will become the fifth women's major alongside the US and British Women's Opens and the Kraft Nabisco and LPGA Championships.

"It's going to be super," she said after her closing four birdie round.

"France is not a big country. We don't have a lot of golf courses like in the United States. We're going to have the Ryder Cup in 2018 and next year we're going to have a women's major. It means so much."

The center has helped more than 580 children, including children with rare genetic disorders and serious and rare forms of pediatric cancer. They also have supported families of newborns with serious disorders who wanted to take their babies home, where they died surrounded by family instead of in a hospital. More recently, the center has also been called to work with children who have been victims of violence. The center?s physicians and nurses help parents understand their child?s medical condition and prognosis and facilitate communicate with other health care professionals.

Starbucks lowers outlook, shares slump

NEW YORK (AP) ? Starbucks Corp. on Thursday reported third-quarter net income that fell short of Wall Street expectations and cut its outlook for the current quarter, citing the challenging global economy.

Its shares fell 9.6 percent in after-hours trading.

The Seattle-based coffee giant said net income rose 19 percent during the quarter, as global revenue at cafes open at least a year rose 6 percent. The increase in the metric, which is important to retailers because it excludes the effect of recently opened and closed stores, was driven by growth in China and Asia and the Americas. In the European market, where Starbucks has been struggling to turn around its business, the figure was flat.

"Europe has been a challenge for us all year and continues to be," said Troy Alstead, the company's chief financial officer. But he noted that the flat sales were an improvement from the previous quarter, when the figure slipped 1 percent.

To perk up its business in the region, Starbucks has been instituting measures similar to those it took during the downturn in the U.S. a few years ago, such as introducing loyalty programs and improving service. CEO Howard Schultz has said he's confident the measures will prove successful.

Still, the company says its store expansions next year will be focused in the United States and the fast-growing China market.

For the three months ended July 1, the company said it earned $333.1 million, or 43 cents per share. That's compared with $279.1 million, or 36 cents per share, a year ago.

Total revenue rose 13 percent to $3.3 billion.

Analysts on average expected a profit of 45 cents per share on revenue of $3.34 billion.

Starbucks said the higher revenue was the result of increased customer traffic and customers spending more per visit.

For the current quarter, Starbucks cut its profit outlook to 44 cents to 45 cents per share from a range of 46 cents to 47 cents per share. Analysts were predicting 48 cents per share.

Shares dropped $5 to $47.40 in after-hours trading. During the trading day, shares had gained $1.99, or 4 percent, close at $52.40.

You've probably relied on your parents to manage your financial matters for years, and you may not know more than a few basic things about personal finance. Then you graduate from college, and suddenly you're responsible for all kinds of important financial decisions. If you want to manage your finances responsibly, you'll need to overcome the following challenges.

Financial Illiteracy
"The crying need for more financial literacy in Gen Yers cannot be overstated," says consumer finance expert Kevin Gallegos, vice president of Phoenix operations for Freedom Financial Network. "The good news is that managing finances is not an innate skill, but something that is learned like math, reading and writing."

Unfortunately, financial literacy is rarely taught in schools. Gallegos says that Gen Yers must take the initiative to educate themselves about topics such as budgeting and living within one's means, paying bills on time, managing credit and debt, making regular contributions to savings, tackling student loans, and planning for retirement. Following just one good online or print resource can provide the foundation to learn these basics, he says.

Repaying Student Loans
In an age where an undergraduate degree no longer seems to be good enough, student loans have become the biggest challenge facing many young people. "There's so much pressure to go to a good school and compete for limited jobs that a lot of students are taking out expensive loans to finance an education that won't pay for itself no matter how good a job they land after graduation," says attorney Shane Fischer of Winter Park, Fla. "If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have gone to an expensive private school and would have opted for the less prestigious public school."

According to FinAid.org, a student financial aid information website, more than half of graduate students borrow to finance their educations, and their average cumulative debt just from grad school is around $31,000. Almost all law students - 88.6% of them - borrow. These students incur an average of about $80,000 in debt. Students pursuing professional degrees fare similarly, with 86.2% borrowing and an average cumulative debt of more than $87,000. Undergraduate debt adds roughly another $10,000 to these students' debt loads.

Learning to Invest and Take Risks
The economy's performance over the last few years has had a major impact on Gen Yers who haven't been able to find jobs or who have watched their parents' investment returns disappear.

"Unfortunately, the economic downturn has caused many young adults to fear investing in the stock market," says Rachel Cruze, professional personal finance speaker and daughter of financial expert Dave Ramsey. "But you have to think longterm when investing in the stock market. The past few years have been rough, but over time the stock market has made money. If you begin investing early and often you'll be able to build wealth through your investments," she says.

Brian Ullmann, CFP and wealth manager at Ford Financial Group, an independent advisory firm in Fresno, Calif., also says that market turmoil has impacted 20-somethings' investment strategies.

"Our younger clients now have a much lower tolerance for risk and have more conservative portfolios. In fact, we have clients in their 20s who wish to have their portfolio positioned for someone twice their age," he says. "One of our concerns is that this new, more conservative positioning for Gen Y clients is a permanent change and one that could lead them to miss out on opportunities in the future."

Overcoming Pressure to Follow a Worn-Out Path
"One of the biggest hurdles is overcoming societal pressures," says Matthew B. Brock, CFP, senior partner and owner of Divergent Planning in Bethesda, Md.

Brock says Generation Y is constantly being told that there is a right way to plan financially. This advice often comes from an older generation whose financial status doesn't show that their way is the right way.

"Young adults no longer want to keep up with the Joneses because the Joneses lost their jobs, lost their house and may never retire," Brock says.

Gen Yers' choices reflect their preference for freedom and experience over property ownership, he says.

"Most young adults are waiting longer to get married, waiting longer to move to the suburbs and waiting longer to have kids," says Brock.

Renting means they can leave a job and move to another city on a whim, save up and then take a few months off to travel, or quit a job to start a company. The American Dream does not always include buying a house, a nice car and earning a high salary. It means being free to do what makes you happy.

"Older generations need to recognize younger people may have a better idea of what happiness means than they ever did," he says.

The Bottom Line
To overcome the challenges they face, today's young adults need to educate themselves about personal finance, manage the student loan debt they've already incurred, avoid or minimize additional debt, learn basic investment skills, and not be afraid to choose their own paths. Also, as youth are so often advised, they need to practice patience.

"Remember that you're still young and be content with what you have," says Cruze. "Work hard so that you're able save up to make large purchases that you can afford without having to pay interest."
